Verify a Geely Coolray Software Update Before Purchase

A software update is useful only when it applies to the actual Coolray or Binyue and produces a supported result. Before approving a car, distinguish a documented update from an unofficial installation or a promised feature. Keep the original market, hardware and version record visible. Do not assume that firmware for a newer export model is suitable for an older China-market vehicle with a similar display.

Record the current system before changing it

Obtain the selected VIN, original market, model year and visible software-version information through the normal supported interface. Record which system the seller means: infotainment, another control module or an app on a phone. A generic statement that the car has the latest software is not enough. Preserve existing warnings and useful inspection evidence before any supported reset. The Coolray software and connectivity overview keeps language, local functions and regional services separate. If version information cannot be established, mark that field unresolved rather than borrowing a screenshot from a showroom vehicle or a different market.

Ask what problem or feature the update addresses

Define the intended outcome in ordinary buyer terms: a reproducible fault, a documented improvement or a required supported function. Ask for the applicable manufacturer or authorised service basis for this exact configuration. A service campaign, a normal software revision and an optional phone application are not interchangeable descriptions. Do not accept a vague promise that an update will solve every screen, language or connectivity concern. The condition and risk guide should preserve the original symptom. A proposed intervention needs a reason and a relevant confirmation test, not simply a file name found in an owner discussion.

Establish eligibility and the responsible service route

Ask the applicable market support provider whether the selected VIN and installed hardware qualify, who may perform the work and which supported procedure applies. Do not offer unofficial downloads, hidden-menu instructions or bypasses of regional restrictions as a normal export solution. The current global Coolray page explicitly qualifies equipment by country or region; its feature list does not establish an update path for every older candidate. Use the Coolray and Binyue identity guide before treating a sales badge as proof that two software packages or service records belong to the same configuration.

Separate phone functions from vehicle updating

Phone projection, Bluetooth audio, remote-account services and display language should each have a clear acceptance result. An update to a phone app is not evidence that a vehicle control module was updated. Likewise, a working screen does not prove the buyer can register remote services at the destination. The phone-connection guide tests the actual daily function, while key and account handover checks address access. Do not let a successful demonstration of one capability silently substitute for a different promised feature. Keep unsupported regional availability visible in the quotation.

Require completion and a relevant demonstration

For supported work that proceeds, retain the service date, vehicle identity, version basis, work description and any necessary confirmation record. Recheck the agreed function using the intended equipment and normal operation. A changed version label alone does not establish that the buyer requirement was met. If the intervention concerns a fault, preserve before-and-after observations rather than deleting the original concern from the inspection. The warning and diagnostic evidence guide can keep the instrument and workshop record consistent. Do not ask for unsafe road demonstrations or further undocumented changes when the first result remains unexplained.

Carry the software boundary into the purchase decision

State what was completed, what was demonstrated and which market or service limitations remain. Identify who can support the configuration after import and separate that route from a seller informal offer to send more files later. Use the overseas support guide to record applicable terms without guaranteeing universal warranty transfer. If the required function cannot be supported, compare a correctly specified alternative or consciously accept its absence. Reopen affected checks after a hardware change or candidate substitution; an update report for the original VIN cannot certify another car simply because its display looks similar.

Example: a promised language change is not completed evidence

A seller says that a file will change the interface after payment but cannot identify its legitimate applicability or demonstrate the result. Record the language requirement as unresolved. Ask the relevant service provider for a supported route before approving the vehicle on that promise. If the change cannot be established, choose another candidate or accept the actual language configuration explicitly. Avoid valuing a future feature as installed equipment, and do not let a functioning Bluetooth call create the impression that navigation, menus and remote services have all been converted for the buyer destination.

Buyer checklist

  • Actual hardware and version recorded
  • Purpose of the update clearly identified
  • Legitimate VIN-specific eligibility confirmed
  • Required function demonstrated after supported work
  • Destination support and exceptions retained

Buyer questions

Does newer export firmware automatically fit an older Binyue?

No. Confirm the actual hardware, market and supported vehicle-specific procedure.

Does the newest version label guarantee every phone or language feature?

No. Demonstrate each required function and retain its regional support limits.
